PERLMUTTER JOINS NATIONAL CANNABIS ROUNDTABLE — Industry group National Cannabis Roundtable is adding a major player to its ranks: former Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.), the long-time champion of the cannabis banking bill, is joining NCR as a policy adviser.
“When I retired from Congress, I made it clear that I remained as committed as ever to fighting the good fight, particularly when it comes to advocating for common-sense cannabis reforms and the enactment of the SAFE Banking Act,” Perlmutter said in a statement.
Perlmutter joins former Sen. Cory Gardner, another former lead sponsor of the cannabis banking bill, at NCR. The trade group\’s slate of policy advisors also includes former House Speaker John Boehner, former Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and former Deputy Attorney General Jim Cole (of the Cole memo).
Why it’s important: Perlmutter spent years fighting for the cannabis banking bill on Capitol Hill, and still has many important relationships in the building.
