NATIONAL CANNABIS ROUNDTABLE HAILS TRUMP ENDORSEMENT OF CANNABIS LEGALIZATION, STATES’ RIGHTS, SAFE BANKING
Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Cannabis Roundtable (NCR) commended former President Trump for his statement in strong support of cannabis legalization efforts, including decriminalizing possession for personal use, federal rescheduling efforts, and states’ rights to implement their own cannabis laws – confirming he will vote yes on the adult use ballot initiative in Florida. He also called on Congress to pass the SAFE Banking Act and other common-sense federal cannabis reforms.
Saphira Galoob, Executive Director of the National Cannabis Roundtable, released the following statement:
“We welcome the support of former President Trump for states’ rights to implement their own cannabis legalization policies. As we’ve seen in 38 states to date, such legal programs implement strict regulations to best protect our children, patients, consumers, and communities.
“It is a monumental moment in our ongoing fight for federal cannabis reform as the Presidential nominees of our two major parties have now both embraced legalization efforts, acknowledging that no one should be in jail for personal use of cannabis and that the establishment of responsible, regulated cannabis markets is the pathway to a safer America.
“We look forward to seeing more progress towards the end of federal prohibition in the coming weeks, months, and years. Legislators on both sides of the aisle need to come together and get something done to end the federal prohibition of cannabis and implement other vital federal cannabis reforms – starting with getting SAFE Banking enacted by year’s end. Our work continues!”
The National Cannabis Roundtable is an alliance of cannabis companies, as well as ancillary services and solutions providers, who seek cannabis reform that nurtures the nascent domestic industry, protects consumers, and advances social equity.
