NATIONAL CANNABIS ROUNDTABLE WELCOMES THE REINTRODUCTION OF BIPARTISAN PREPARE ACT

Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Cannabis Roundtable (NCR) applauded the reintroduction of the Preparing Regulators Effectively for a Post-prohibition Adult-use Regulated Environment (PREPARE) Act by Congressman Dave Joyce (R-OH), co-chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). This bipartisan bill would establish a Commission on the Federal Regulation of Cannabis to study a prompt and plausible pathway to the federal regulation of cannabis, critical given the ongoing review of the current Schedule I status of marijuana by the Biden Administration at the President’s direction.

Saphira Galoob, Executive Director of the National Cannabis Roundtable, released the following statement in support of the PREPARE Act:

“The PREPARE Act is a critical component of the current scheduling review of cannabis being conducted by the Administration. When – not if – there is a change in federal policy, agencies must be ready to adapt accordingly in developing a logical, common-sense regulatory structure for cannabis. With this bipartisan bill, there is an opportunity for robust best practices, guidance, and regulation to develop by ensuring the most impactful stakeholders are heard. NCR thanks Congressman Joyce and Leader Jeffries for their leadership in ensuring the various federal agencies prepare appropriately for the end of cannabis prohibition.”

The National Cannabis Roundtable is an alliance of cannabis companies, as well as ancillary services and solutions providers, who seek cannabis reform that nurtures the nascent domestic industry, protects consumers, and advances social equity.
