National Cannabis Roundtable Statement on Introduction of Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA)

This week, the Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) formally filed the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA). This legislation would decriminalize cannabis at the federal level and allow states to set their own cannabis laws without fear of interference from Washington.

Saphira Galoob, Executive Director of the National Cannabis Roundtable, released the following statement:

“The Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act will make our communities safer, our economy stronger, promote social equity and provide justice for the thousands of Americans with criminal records due to low-level cannabis offenses. We appreciate the positive changes made to the CAOA, and thank Senators Schumer, Wyden and Booker for introducing this landmark legislation. The vast majority of Americans support common-sense cannabis reform, and now it’s time for Congress to deliver on this important legislation.”
