Congress Should Advance SAFE Banking Act as Senate Panel Reviews Cannabis Banking Reform, says NCR

WASHINGTON, DC – The National Cannabis Roundtable (NCR) is calling on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee to advance the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE Act) as it considers reforms to cannabis banking laws at an upcoming hearing on Tuesday July, 23 at 10 AM EST.  NCR applauded Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID) for announcing the hearing and Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) for their leadership on cannabis reform.

“Legally operating cannabis businesses deserve to be on a level playing field with other businesses,” said Terry Holt, NCR spokesman. “The fastest growing industry in the U.S. shouldn’t be forced to operate almost exclusively in cash.  The SAFE Act will make our communities safer and unlock the full potential of this growing industry.  We applaud Chairman Crapo and Senators Gardner and Merkley for their leadership and commitment to advancing cannabis banking reform.”
